We are very excited about what is ahead of us this year. We have lots of opportunities to take part in fun packed activities

Here is a breakdown of what this term looks like.

Autumn 1:

The first few weeks children will be settling in, getting used to routines and developing new friendships whilst the class teachers and TAs will begin to ‘baseline’ the children.
Baseline is an initial assessment of the children which allows us to make informed decisions, helping us to understand what your child’s next step in learning is and how to best facilitate this.

Our topics for the next two half terms is as follows;

Autumn 1 – All about me

Children begin the school by learning about themselves focusing mostly on the personal, social and emotional aspect of development alongside children’s language and communication.

Autumn 2 – Twinkle, twinkle little star

A topic around space. We look into the different planets and explore a world beyond the blue skies.

Why do we have a break at Christmas?
In this topic we will learn a little bit about Christmas and other celebrations and festivals that take place in other cultures.

As learning in reception is child led, we don’t like to plan to far in advance so often there will be mini topics in between that have been influenced by the interests of the children.

We look at the seasons as the year goes by taking lovely autumn walks and learning lots about the world around us.

We look forward to sharing our learning adventure with you! Keep checking the blog for updates!

Each week the EYFS team will add a Weekly Learning Update to our class page and each half-term we will add our medium term plans to help keep you informed about all the exciting things we do in school. Please click on the links below to read our newsletters.

Remember:
PE is on a Friday morning. Please send your child to school in their PE kit ready, with their school uniform in a bag to get changed into later.

A weekly newsletter comes home each Friday as well as phonics homework. Please practise the sounds and the words with your child.

Mrs Shuttleworth and Miss Heery.

Please check our blogs to keep up-to-date with our learning.
