P.E Curriculum

In July 2012, the Head Teacher (Mrs Bates) and PE co-ordinator (Mr O’Neill) agreed that we wanted PE to become an integral part of the fabric of our school. This was to be implemented by releasing Mr O’Neill from class to teach the majority of the children 2 hours a week curriculum time PE.

The range of sports offered would be much more varied than before and children would be involved in all levels of competition both within schools and against other local and regional teams.
We felt the infant PE curriculum was not working well for our children so Mr O’Neill visited leading schools in other local authorities to observe Outstanding PE teachers. As a result of this we have started using the ‘Move With’ Physical Literacy scheme which has been so successful in Salford Schools.

We also agreed that PE should be formally assessed in the same way the other subjects are so each child’s progress can be tracked as they move up the school.
Infant PE lessons will take place in school; either in the hall or outside, Junior PE lessons will continue to take place at Stretford Sports Village. Infant children will be taken over to Stretford Sports Village for festivals and tournaments throughout the course of the year by the Juniors so they will know the routines.
