Welcome to our Attendance Bear page

At Gorse Hill Primary School we are working very hard to improve attendance and punctuality.
It is vital that children attend school every day so that they have the best chance of reaching their full potential - every day counts!

Coming to school every day helps children to learn new exciting things, build lasting friendships and promotes self-esteem and confidence.

A child with 90% attendance may seem good, but it actually means that you child would miss:

• one half day each week
• nearly four weeks of a school year

We understand that children will miss school due to illness or other unforeseen circumstances, but we urge parents to send children in when they are well enough to attend. For information about attendance procedures please see our School Attendance Policy.

The school has a number of support strategies in place to help ensure that all pupils can achieve full attendance, these include:

• regular monitoring of attendance and punctuality
• weekly winners of Attendance Bear for the class with the best attendance (see below)
• reward trips every term for the class with the best attendance
• 100% attendance badges for every child who attends school every day
• an end of school year reward trip for every child that has 100% attendance for the whole year
