MFL
Bienvenue and welcome to our MFL page!
At Gorse Hill Primary School we speak many languages and we also love to learn and speak French. All children in KS2 have a weekly lesson with our teacher Aurelie which really helps with pronunciation and confidence. The class teachers also enjoy experiencing a French-speaking teacher delivering lessons as the can learn and grow along with the children. The teachers also consolidate learning throughout the week when Aurelie is not in school as it is good practice to repeat new vocabulary as much as possible.
Every term, we also have whole-school French days where all children take part in cultural learning, centered around a theme. This year’s themes are ‘Famous French artists’, ‘Cultural Differences’ and ‘Bastille Day’. At Gorse Hill Primary, we recognise the importance of not only learning the language of the country, but also learning about what makes that country culturally unique and special. On these days we always run a French café because who doesn’t like a pain au chocolat?!
We also offer a French after school club every Tuesday evening for children who want to further practice their linguistic skills. This is also run by Aurelie. Information about the clubs can be found under our French club tab on the website.
We have our own Twitter handle for MFL at Gorse Hill Primary School which is @gorsehillmfl1. Check out what we have been doing!
Au revoir et a bientot!
