Welcome
Welcome back to school, and the next chapter for your children! I am Mrs Harrison, your child’s class teacher. Year 1 is a big change in your child’s life as they transition from learning through play, to sitting and writing more. Although this change is gradual over the next few months, it can still cause a lot of worries. This all being said, children will gradually learn the new routines and adapt to new school life. They will learn lots of amazing things in Year 1, and hopefully have lots of fun whilst doing so! I enjoy planning lessons that are fun and engaging for all the children so that they will hopefully develop a love of learning. I am really looking forward to meeting you all and teaching your children this year, seeing all the amazing things they achieve and learn over the academic year!
Autumn Term
Welcome to an exciting term in Year 1! This term marks a big step in your child’s learning journey as they begin to take on new challenges, develop their independence and build their confidence as learners. We will be busy exploring Maths, Literacy, Guided reading and SPaG, developing key skills that will support your child throughout their school lives. We will also be discovering more about the world around us through Science and Geography, getting creative in Art, developing our skills in computing and learning how to understand ourselves and others through PSHE. There will be lots of opportunities to explore, investigate, create and have lots of fun! We can’t wait to see how much your child grows this term.

Key Information and Dates
P.E – Wednesday
Home Work – Returned Mondays, sent home Wednesdays
Spelling Quiz – Mondays (practice before then)
Bug Club – login’s will be placed in your child’s diary this half term so that you can access extra books at home.
School lunches – Please make sure you are picking your child’s school dinners; this is your responsibility to do this at home as it won’t be done in school. I recommend completing it monthly so that you don’t need to worry about it each day/week.
