Horse Chestnut

Welcome to Horse Chestnut Class

 A very warm welcome to Horse Chestnut class. We aim to provide a broad and balanced curriculum that engages, supports and challenges all learners. We recognise difference and celebrate progress.

PE is currently taught on Mondays – please wear PE kit to school.

Spellings will be given out each Friday and children will also be tested on spellings on Fridays

Reading books should be brought into school each day

A water bottle should be brought into school every day 

 

Autumn Term:

 

Mathematics

English

This term we will be using some different model texts to help us write our own versions. We will be describing settings and writing instructions. In our writing we will be using adjectives, adverbs, determiners, conjunctions and a range of punctuation including apostrophes.

 

Science

This term we will be looking at Living things and their habitats. We will recognise seven life processes, sort and group animals, and use classification keys as well as look at how our environment is changing

 

Geography

This term we will be looking in depth at rainforests. We will be taking a learning journey through the Amazon rainforest, looking at the main features of a rainforest, and different parts of a rainforest. We will be looking at animals and people that live there as well as some of the environmental issues and concerns caused by climate change

 

DT

We will be looking at soft toys and what makes them popular before designing, making and then evaluating our own

 

Art

We will be looking at self portraits this term, including examples from famous artists, both abstract and realistic. We will look at how to create tone and texture as well as how to accurately position facial features
