We are a mixed year class with pupils in both accademic years 3 & 4. In Beech class we offer a broad, balanced, creative and engaging curriculum that is designed to challenge and support all learners. We are an inclusive class and work together to bring the best out of each other! We are resilliant and never give up!
Autumn Term 1 Overview
Welcome back to a new school year! Here is a guide as to what we will be learning over the term.
Maths
In our maths lessons we will be looking at place value, ordering and comparing numbers to 1000 and adding and subtracting three-digit numbers. We will also be learning our x3 and x4 times tables so please quiz your child on these regularly.
English
In English, we will be developing our written work by using conjunctions, openers, paragraphs and mixed punctuation. We will use different texts to help us learn how to describe a setting. Our key texts will be The Magician’s Shop we will innovate this to create a description of a magic bedroom. We will also practice writing instructions on what to do if you meet an alien.
Science
In our science lessons, we will be looking at living things and their habitats. We will use our knowledge of the different animal groups to create classification keys. We will visit our local environment to look for different plants and animals in their habitats. We will discuss similarities and differences.
Geography
Our geographical skills will be enhanced as we learn about rainforests, the different layers and the animals which live in them. We will learn about deforestation and some of the environmental issues this causes.
History
Our history learning will take us right back to the Ancient Greece, and we will look at what life was like. We will look at some of the Myths and how the Olympic game s began.
RE
Our Religious Education will focus on what different people believe about God.
Music
In Music we will be learning how to sing Mama Mia by Abba.
Computing
Mr Donaghy will teach us computing programming using Scratch on a Friday afternoon.
Art
In Art, we will be developing our drawing skills through creating portraits and looking at some famous artists and the work they have created. We will use our school visions and values to help us who how we care and respect each other. Look out for our hall display once we have created our masterpieces!

Key Information and Dates
PE is on Thursday and Friday mornings with Mr O'Neill please come into school wearing your PE kit on these days.
Reading books need to be returned on a Thursday and will be sent out on Friday afternoons.
Spellings will be sent out on Thursday and tested the following Thursday.
