Special Events

As Gorse Hill Primary sporting reputation grows we find we are being invited to more and more sporting celebrations. Mr O’Neill was invited to speak at Trafford Schools Sports Partnership’s annual conference at Old Trafford as there is now a push to have specialist PE teacher in primary schools over the next few years something we have been doing this since September 2012!

We were recently invited to Manchester United’s Champions League game versus Bayer Leverkusen, Mr O’Neill, Mrs McDonald, Mrs Westwood and Miss Thompson took a group of Juniors who enjoyed a six goal thriller. Hopefully this will become a regular thing as the other children (and staff!) would like a chance to go.

We have also taken the whole school to watch Lancashire v Essex in the Cricket and Manchester Magic play basketball in the last year.

Our Upper Juniors girls were invited to BBC Media City recently to help launch the Women's European Championships. The girls were shown on Match of the Day and Demi and Hujusta were interviewed by Newsround. The interview was shown on that days show!

Winter Games

We have also been invited to take part in Trafford's Winter Games Festival in February. This takes place at Silver Blades Ice Rink in Altrincham and will be televised!

Year 6 Children will need to be able to perform in Dancing on Ice, Speed Skate and play Ice Hockey and Curling. Most of them have never even skated yet so we are using the PE Premium to take them for intensive training. Most are apprehensive. Click on the video and photo links below to see their progress.

Ice Skating photos coming soon.
